Group Project: The Holistic Nomads

I first enrolled in the Journey in Literature course as "LITE" a requirement for my Bachelor's Degree. My first day in this class, however, I felt skeptical about it's style. It reminded me a lot about my high school English courses, which I disliked. But I decided to stay for a couple of reasons, one being that I needed the credits, another being a very personal cause (which shall stay between me and my group), but most importantly, it was the day our group organized for the first time. Being in a group project that would later participate in the class activities in a college level course felt a little immature at first, especially to me since I've been in Uni for three years. But I noticed a special chemistry between us members that made me ignore the fact. Our first conversation was built around deciding a name for the group, and we were stuck wondering, but someone breaks the ice by asking "So what do you study?", and based on our very broad answers, the word "holistic" came to mind and slapped "nomads" to the title. A few giggles after and we had transformed from classmates to good friends. And of course, we faced our first struggle by turning in our first group classwork late due to us not being able to concentrate on it in the first place. That was foreshadowing our future as a group because we sure never turned anything in before 2:50 pm.
The Holistic Nomads members have very particular but similar ways of thinking. It's pretty impressive how six people could all arrive at the same conclusions and decisions without arguing a single time. We share inside jokes and nicknames, we encourage each other, and we even reached a point where we supported each other emotionally. They don't know it (although, they will now) but they found my soft spot and that's incredibly hard to do, especially currently in my life. They are so responsible and loyal to the group and that's completely rare to find nowadays in college. Not a single day did they miss a group assignment, and each one was a blast because it was an excuse to sit together and keep growing our bonds. Our connection was such, that our we could understand our looks without uttering a word.
This short essay really means more to me than just a grade, so I will take the opportunity to direct myself personally to each member. Starting off with Anthony: I've only known you for a couple of months but man, I've seen you grow out of your shell and you've got a lot more to experience but it's a nice start opening up so keep doing it. Sergio, you understand me the most taking into account our college experience so thank you for reminding me to lay back and not worry so much about minor details. Alondra, you are too responsible and hardworking and frankly, you were the voice of reason in the group. Kiara, I know you don't mean those comments, we joke a lot as if we had a rivalry, but deep down you're a softie just like me, and you make me laugh believe it or not. And last but definitely not least, Isabel, we have a different connection; not that we all don't share something similar, but we always sat besides each other, so we always kept each other company and have a lot in common so we always entertained each other when we were bored. (Ps. thank you for the snacks).
I can look back and say that I was not expecting to build a friendship thanks to a course I once considered dropping out of. I don't regret any bit of it. I came in alone and walked out with a wholesome squad of Holistic Nomads.
